April 18, 2006

Baltimore, Md. - The senior tandem of Amy Nitch and Jessica Liberatore tied the Loyola record for most career doubles' wins the same partner on Tuesday afternoon in their final career match at the Butler Courts. The Greyhounds, however, fell to local for Towson and close the regular season with 10-8 overall record.

Nitch and Liberatore equaled the school mark of 52 career doubles' wins set by former teammates Carolyn Pilkington and Kaitlin Russo, who graduated in 2004. This year's senior duo tied the record with an 8-5 win against the Tigers.

Loyola fell 7-0 in the match after learning of their No. 4 seed in this weekend's MAAC Championship at the U.S. Open in Flushing, N.Y. The Greyhounds will face No. 5 seed Fairfield at 1:30 p.m. this Friday.

The men's team received the No. 7 seed in this year's tournament and will play No. 2 Marist at 11 a.m. on Friday at the U.S. Open.
