Tennis Splits With St. Peter's

Baltimore, Md. - Loyola's men's and women's tennis teams split Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference matches with St. Peter's on Sunday morning in Baltimore, Md. The Greyhounds won 6-1 on the women's side and fell 4-3 in men's action to move their respective season records to 11-4 and 8-8.

The men won the doubles' point with junior co-captains Scott Gannon and Ben Epstein teaming up for a 9-8 win at No. 1, while freshman Matt McDaniel and junior Chad Morrow claimed an 8-4 win at No. 3 to give Loyola the first point of the match.

Gannon followed up his doubles' win with a 7-6, 6-4 win at No. 1 singles. Junior Rob Palliser also won in singles play with a three-set victory at No. 4.

The women also won the doubles' point with freshmen Caitlyn Day and Stephanie Dunn winning 8-1 at No. 1 doubles while junior co-captins Mallory Tarca and Meaghan McKenna clinched the point at No. 3.

Day and Dunn also won in straight sets at No. 1 and No. 3 singles. Day captured a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 1, while Dunn won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3. Freshman Kerri Swan won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles to seal the Loyola victory while McKenna and Tarca won at Nos. 5 and 6 singles respectively.

The women return to action this Tuesday at Towson while both the men and women host Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday afternoon.
