Tennis Drops A Pair At Marist

Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - The Loyola men's and women's tennis teams fell to MAAC foe Marist in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. on Sunday afternoon. The men dropped a 7-0 final to the Red Foxes to fall to 7-5 on the year, while the women fell 6-1 to drop their overall record to 7-4.

On the women's side, freshman Lauren Cassle highlighted the afternoon with a singles victory at No. 4. Playing in front a hometown crowd, Cassle returned to Poughkeepsie to win 6-4, 6-7, 7-5 in a grueling three-set match.

Freshmen Caitlyn Day, Kerri Swan and Stephanie Dunn fell in Nos. 1-3 singles respectively while juniors Meaghan McKenna and Mallory Tarca dropped singles points at Nos. 5 and 6.

On the men's side, junior Scott Gannon played No. 1 and junior Ben Epstein played No. 2 as Marist earned straight set wins across the board. Freshman Matt McDaniel fell at No. 3, while Rob Palliser, Tim Koch and Peter Edgar played Nos. 4 through 6 for Loyola.

Both the men and women return to MAAC competition on Monday April 9 when they host Rider at the Butler Courts.
