Baltimore, Md. - Five Greyhounds won their singles matches in straight sets as Loyola earned a 6-1 victory over Morgan State in its spring opener on Tuesday afternoon. Loyola, now 1-0 on the year, gears up for a hectic spring schedule with the cross-town win.
Junior Amy Nitch got the Greyhounds rolling with a 3-0 victory in No. 1 singles. Freshman Meagan McKenna earned a singles win at No. 3 while sophomore Christi Lazar (No. 4), Claire Najour (No. 5) and Stefanie Clay (No. 6) all won their matches in straight sets.
Loyola also swept the doubles' competition with Jessica Liberatore and Nitch taking their No. 1 doubles match 8-6. Both duos of McKenna and Lazar (No. 2) and Clay and Najour (No. 3) won their matches 8-3.
The Greyhounds head to Delaware on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. match with the Blue Hens. Loyola returns home this Friday for a 3 p.m. match with Quinnipiac.
