Tennis Blanks UMES In Straight Sets

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola men's and women's tennis teams captured 7-0 wins over University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) on Saturday afternoon at the Butler Courts. The Greyhounds won in straight sets en route to their fourth victory on each side this season.

The Loyola women swept through their match with straight set victories in each single match. Sophomore Caitlyn Day was the No. 1 singles winner, sophomore Kerri Swan won at No. 2, freshman Joy Johnson won at No. 3, sophomore Stephanie Dunn won at No. 4, senior Meaghan McKenna won at No. 5 and freshman Andie Keyser- Baker won at No. 6.

The women's doubles winners included Swan and Johnson at No. 1, Day and Dunn at No.2 and senior co-captains McKenna and Mallory Tarca at No. 3.

The men's team captured the doubles point with senior co-captains Scott Gannon and Ben Epstein at No.1, and senior Doug Alban and freshman Dan D'Agostino at No. 2.

In singles play, Gannon won at No.1, Epstein won at No. 2 and D'Agostino won at No. 5. Sophomore Matt McDaniel won in straight sets at No. 3, as did sophomore Tim Koch at No. 4 and freshman Jamie Russo at No. 6.

The Loyola men are now 4-1 with the victory, while the women are 4-0. Both teams return to action on Sunday when they host Mount St. Mary's at the Butler Courts.
