Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola women's tennis team improved to 3-1 this season with a convincing 7-0 win over Morgan State on Tuesday evening. Led by seniors Amy Nitch and Jessica Liberatore, the Greyhounds swept the doubles' point and won all six singles matches against their in-town foe.
Nitch and Liberatore set the tone early, winning their No. 1 doubles match, 8-0. Sophomore Meaghan McKenna and junior Christi Lazar wrapped up the point with an 8-2 victory at No. 2 doubles while the No. 3 doubles' tandem of Stefanie Clay and Mallory Tarca rolled to an 8-0 win as well.
In singles' competition, Nitch won a hard-fought match at No.1, 4-6, 7-6(4), (6) while Liberatore, McKenna, Lazar, Clay and Tarca won their singles matches in straight sets to complete the sweep.
The Loyola women return to action on Friday, March 17 when they travel to Emmitsburg to take on Mount St. Mary's. That match is at 3 p.m.
