Ferraina, Cooke Named To NSCAA All-Region Teams

Loyola forward Theresa Ferraina and center back Heather Cooke were named to NSCAA All-Northeast Region teams, the organization announced. Ferraina was named a first team selection, while Cooke was named to the second team.

Named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Year earlier this season, Ferraina finished the season with seven goals and three assists for 17 points. The Lowe's Senior CLASS Award finalist concluded her career ranked third in Loyola history with 65 career points on 25 goals and 15 assists. Her 25 goals is also fourth all-time at Loyola, while her 15 assists is tied for sixth in program annals. The Loyola all-time leader in games played with 83 is also just one of two players in school history to record at least 25 goals and 15 assists in her career.

Cooke was a second team all-region selection

A center back for the Greyhounds this season, Cooke was named a first-team All-MAAC selection and helped Loyola hold opponents to just 1.17 goals per game. The California, Md., native, started and played in a Loyola single-season 23 games this season, recording a goal and two assists for four points. Cooke finished her four-year career at Loyola with four goals and three assists for 11 points.

The Greyhounds went 15-5-3 overall in the 2009 season, including a perfect 9-0-0 in MAAC regular season play, won the MAAC regular season and tournament titles and earned their seventh bid to the NCAA College Cup. The 15 victories were the second-most in program history and included a school-record 14-game unbeaten streak, which spanned over two months.
