The Loyola University Maryland women's soccer team took part in the "2011 St. Jude Give thanks. Walk." at Centennial Park in Ellicott City, Md., on Saturday, November 19, benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The team participated as Team Greyhounds, and did the walk in honor of Adalin Farnum, the daughter of Michigan State Associate Head Coach Tammy Farnum, who lost her battle with cancer at the age of nine on October 14, 2011.
"This was especially touching to me," said Loyola assistant coach Erin (Konheim) Mandras. "Tammy was my assistant coach when I played at Michigan State. Adie was born my freshman year and I was able to watch her grow into such a special and unique child. It means a lot to me that our program was able to give back to this cause."
The Greyhounds raised a significant amount of money to help doctors and researchers at St. Jude find lifesaving cures for ill children in communities everywhere.
