Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola College women's soccer team is off to Fairfield, Conn., awaiting its chance to defend its 2003 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship. Last year, the Greyhounds won their seventh overall title as well as their fourth consecutive crown.
Head coach Joe Mallia and his troops finished the season undefeated in conference play at 9-0 for the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament. Loyola also finished the regular season on an 11 game winning streak and a 14-3-0 overall record.
The Greyhounds will face fourth-seeded Iona (9-7-1, 5-2-2 MAAC) in the first round on Friday, November 5th at 3:00. Second-seeded Siena (10-7-1, 7-1-1 MAAC) faces third-seeded Rider (11-6-2, 6-2-1 MAAC) at 6:00. The championship game is scheduled for noon on Sunday, November 7, with the winner receiving the league's automatic bid to the 2004 NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship.
