CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland women's soccer senior Colleen Folan was named the Corvias Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday. Classmate and fellow team captain Kelly Santangelo was also included on the league's honorable mention list.
Folan's honor marks the second of her career, as she earned the award on September 22 for her performance in the Patriot League opener at College of the Holy Cross.
The senior captain led the Greyhounds to an unbeaten (1-0-1) week last week, including two shutouts against American University and the United States Naval Academy. Folan stopped seven shots in the two contests to run her consecutive shutout minutes to 445 minutes seven seconds.
In a 2-0 road win at American on Wednesday, Folan stopped four shots. She followed that up by collecting three saves, including a crucial overtime shot in the second overtime period, in a 0-0 tie versus Navy at home on Sunday.
With nine clean sheets this season, the Downingtown, Pennsylvania, native is tied for third for the most shutouts in a single season throughout program history.
Folan and the Greyhounds close out the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Lafayette College. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
