CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland women's soccer freshman Jourdan Ziff was named the Corvias Patriot League Rookie of the Week, the League office announced Monday afternoon.
Ziff scored the game-winning goal Saturday to help the Greyhounds defeat Colgate University, 3-2, and secure a spot in the 2015 Patriot League Tournament.
With 44 seconds remaining in the first half, junior Nicole Wahlig played a long ball to Ziff. The rookie forward sent a volley to the near post to put the Greyhounds up 3-0. The eventual game-winner was Ziff's first collegiate goal.
Ziff, also the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on September 28, becomes the first Loyola player since Carolyn Kennington to earn a conference's rookie of the week honor more than once in a single season, as Kennington picked up two Metro Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week accolades in 2003. Kennington also garnered offensive player of the week honors that year and went on to be named the MAAC Rookie of the Year.
Loyola (6-8-1 overall, 4-3-1 Patriot League) closes out the regular season hosting College of the Holy Cross Saturday, Oct. 31, at Ridley Athletic Complex. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
