Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola College women's soccer team was featured in Thursday's Baltimore Examiner as a preview to this weekend's home games for the Greyhounds. Loyola hosts Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opponents Fairfield (Friday, October 20) and Iona (Sunday, October 22).

The Greyhounds are currently 7-5-2 on the season and undefeated at 5-0-0 in MAAC play. They are led in scoring by freshman Christina Gomez's six goals and four assists. Senior Carolyn Kennington follows with four goals and three assists. Classmate Courtney Arikian follows with four goals and an assist. . Between keepers Brittany Henderson and Amanda Piccirilli, Loyola posts a 1.18 goals-against average and a .734 saves percentage. This weekend's games will be the final home games in the careers of Arikian, Kennington, Klar, Allie Hartrick Caitlin McCusker, and Katelyn Woods.
Fairfield is 7-4-4 overall this season and 4-1-1 in conference play. The Stags are in second play in the conference, sitting behind the first-place Greyhounds. Casey Frobey leads the team in scoring with 10 goals and two assists. She's followed by Alex Caram with five goals and five assists and Ahna Johnson's four goals and three assists. Three keepers have earned minutes for Fairfield with Brett Maron playing a majority. She posts a 0.97 goals-against average and a.806 saves percentage.
Iona is 3-8-4 this season and 1-2-2 in MAAC action. Nine different Gaels players have scored this season with Mariel Pepe and Maggie Prairie leading the way with three goals each. Prairie also had an assist. Liz Allan has one goal and five assists to lead in the assist category. Starting keeper Suzanne Baldissard has a 0.94 goals against average and a .823 saves percentage.
Both games will be played on Loyola's Diane Geppi-Aikens Field. Friday's game versus Fairfield will start at 3:00 while Sunday's contest versus Iona starting at 1:00.
