EDISON, N.J. - Loyola University Maryland senior Nichole Schiro was selected as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Student-Athlete of the Week this week. Schiro is poised to leave the Greyhounds as the program's most decorated women's soccer player and one of the top student-athletes in Loyola history.
A two-time MAAC Offensive Player of the Year, Schiro holds the program's all-time record for goals and points scored. Through the end of September, Schiro has scored 43 goals, and with her 13 career assists, she has 99 points.
Earlier this season, Schiro was named one of 30 finalists nationally for the Senior CLASS Award, a prestigious honor that recognizes NCAA Division I seniors who have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - community, classroom, character and competition.
Schiro is a biology major with a pre-medicine emphasis and has earned a 3.876 grade point average at Loyola through her first three years. She was a Capital One Academic All-District II performer as a junior and has earned MAAC All-Academic honors twice.
The Loyola women's soccer team will close out a three-game road swing this weekend as it travels to Rider for a 1 p.m., contest on Saturday.
