Baltimore, Md. - Junior Ali Andrzejewski was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals and five points against Fairfield on Sunday. Andrzejewski, who leads the Greyhounds in scoring with eight goals and 19 points, takes home conference player of the week honors for the second time this season.
"Ali had an excellent weekend for us," says Loyola Head Coach Joe Mallia. "Not only did she score a couple of big goals in the game on Sunday, but she was a big part of our success this weekend, helping us maintain our style of play."
The Greyhounds improved their overall record to 8-3 on the season while running their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference mark to 4-0. After gritting out a tough 1-0 win against Iona on Friday, the `Hounds topped Fairfield by a 4-1 score to remain the only unbeaten team in conference play this year.
Andrzejewski, with two goal and an assist on Sunday, is currently the MAAC's third leading scorer. She was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Week on August 30 and is one of two Greyhounds to garner Offensive Player of the Week honors (Naomi Daniels won the award on September 13).
Loyola continues MAAC competition this weekend, traveling to St. Peter's on Friday and Manhattan on Sunday.
"We have an opportunity to write our ticket to conference championships this weekend," adds Mallia. "That will be a large part of our focus as we approach our next two games."
