EDISON, N.J. - Loyola College freshman Kelly Farrell was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week today after her two-goal performance in yesterday's win, the conference announce announced.
Farrell scored the first points of her collegiate career Sunday in the Greyhounds' 9-0 conference win over visiting Saint Peter's.
The Oceanside, N.Y., native, drove a ball into the upper right quarter of the net for her first goal of the first goal of her collegiate career in the 60th minute of the match. She then tapped a one-touch assist to Kristina Balfoort six minute later and scored the game's final goal in the 83rd minute.
Farrell, who missed last season due to injury, had seven shots in the game, five on goal. She also had a shot on goal in Loyola's 0-0 tie of Manhattan on Friday.
The award is the first of Farrell's career and the second of the season for the Greyhounds. Lina Staropoli earned the honor on September 17.
