EDISON, NJ - Loyola picked up two of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's weekly awards this week with freshman Carolyn Kennington earning the Offensive Player of the Week award and goalkeeper Kate Gilfillan getting the Defensive Player of the Week award.
Kennington earned the honor after scoring the lone and game winning goal against last week's Mid-Atlantic Region No. 5 team Rutgers. Kennington leads the Greyhounds in scoring with her four goals on the season and has already been name the Rookie of the Week once this season after scoring two goals against McNeese State on September 5th.
Gilfillan was recgonized after shutting out Rutgers and making eight saves for a career-high in goal. This was Gilfillan's first MAAC honor. She has started in two games so far this season, appearing in one other contest. Gilfillan has a goals against average of 1.43, 13 saves and a saves percentage of .812.
The Greyhounds are 2-6 overall so far this season and open their MAAC schedule with Siena on Friday, Oct. 3rd at 3:00 p.m. at Curley Field.
