CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland women's soccer senior Colleen Folan was named the Corvias Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday.
Folan's honor marks the second-straight week a Greyhound has earned a weekly award from the conference office, as senior Kelly Santangelo was named the defensive player of the week on September 15.
Folan played all 110 minutes in the Greyhounds' Patriot League opener at College of the Holy Cross on Saturday. She stopped a career-high seven shots and recorded her third-straight clean sheet, extending her shutout streak to 343 minutes and 56 seconds. The Downingtown, Pennsylvania, native became the first goalkeeper to shutout the Crusaders this season, while also holding the Patriot League's leading scorer, Aly Spencer, without a goal.
This marks the first career weekly award for Folan, as well as the program's first goalkeeper award since joining the Patriot League in 2013. Folan is also the first Greyhound goalkeeper to earn weekly honors since alumna Didi Haracic earned the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week award on October 8, 2012.
The Greyhounds open the home portion of Patriot League play on Saturday, Sept. 27. Colgate University travels to Ridley Athletic Complex for the first time in program history for a 1 p.m., matchup.
