EDISON, N.J. - Loyola College sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Henderson was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for September 3-9, 2007, the conference office announced today.
Henderson led the Greyhounds (1-2-1) to a 2-1 win over 24th-ranked Wake Forest and a 1-1 tie against Virginia Tech last weekend at the Hawthorn Suites Hokie Invitational.
She finished the two games with 19 saves and is currently second in the MAAC in save percentage.
Henderson stopped two point-blank shots in the final five minutes of the win over the Demon Deacons to preserve the win for Loyola.
She then made two of her season-high 10 saves in the second overtime period to ensure a tie against the host Hokies.
Henderson finished the weekend with a 0.90 goals against average and .905 save percentage.
The Greyhounds continue non-conference action this weekend when they travel to Colorado Springs, Colo., for the Colorado College Invitational. Loyola plays Marquette on Friday, then takes on the host Tigers on Sunday.
