CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Loyola University Maryland sophomore Julianna Cabrera has been named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office Monday. Sophomore Sumer Rahe was also named among the league’s honorable mention performances this week.
A midfielder from Garnerville, New York, Cabrera had the first multi-goal game of her career on Friday in the Greyhounds’ 3-1 win over Mount St. Mary’s. Her first goal came just six minutes into the match, with her second in the 51st minute. Both goals were unassisted.
The weekly award marks the first for Cabrera, who started in every collegiate game she has played in. She is tied for first in the Patriot League in goals (2) and second in the league in points (4).
In addition, Rahe received an honorable mention nod for her performances in goal. She had two saves in the 3-1 win over the Mountaineers on Friday and then posted the first shutout of her career with four saves against UMBC on Sunday. Rahe is tied for first in the Patriot League in GAA (0.50).
Loyola, on its first 2-0 start to a season since 2009, will host Saint Francis (Pa.) on Thursday at 7 p.m., as well as St. John’s on Sunday at 4 p.m. Both matches will be played at Ridley Athletic Complex.
