Women's Soccer Continues to Add to 2005 Recruiting Class

May 17, 2005

Baltimore, Md. - Loyola head women's soccer coach Joe Mallia announced that Dre Lopez will join the 2005 recruiting class which already consists of four players.

Lopez, a 5-2 midfielder, will join the Greyhounds after four years at the Gulliver Preparatory school in Miami, Fla. There she led her squad to four district titles while scoring 29 goals and tallying 48 assists in her career. Lopez earned all-county honorable mention honors as a freshman and sophomore while making the second-team all-county as a junior. In her senior season, Lopez was named first-team all-county and third-team all state.

"Dre has the ability to step in and contribute for us early in the midfield," Mallia said.

Lopez is no stranger to Loyola College as her older brother, Art was with the men's soccer program from 1998-2001. Art was a starter on the 2001 squad that appeared in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

"Dre comes from a great family and we are excited to have her as a member of our program," Mallia said. "Her brother, Art, had a great career with our men's program and we hope the same for Dre."
