BALTIMORE - The Loyola women's soccer team will play five games against other intercollegiate teams and one match against its alumnae during the 2008 spring season, Associate Head Coach Peye Garcia announced today.
The Greyhounds, who have been training throughout the spring, will open their slate of competition on Monday, March 31, at 8 a.m. against Towson on Diane Geppi-Aikens Field.
Loyola then heads to Annapolis, Md., for a 7 p.m. match on Friday, April 4, at the U.S. Naval Academy.
The team will play twice on Saturday, April 12, in the KICKS Against Breast Cancer Tournament at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown. The Greyhounds will play George Mason at 2 p.m. and Old Dominion at 4 p.m. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Howard County General Hospital's Claudia Mayer Cancer Resource Center in Columbia, Md.
The Greyhounds, who finished 10-6-4 in 2007 and won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title and advanced to the NCAA College Cup, wrap up their spring schedule with a pair of events on their home campus. Loyola hosts American at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, on Diane Geppi-Aikens Field.
The current team will then play a squad comprised of Loyola alumnae on Saturday, April 19, at 4 p.m., following Loyola's women's lacrosse game against Syracuse.
