Women's Soccer Signs Fourth to the 2005 Recruiting Class

Feb. 22, 2005

Baltimore, Md. - Women's soccer coach Joe Mallia announced the addition of Lea Day (Boulder, Colo./Boulder) to his recruiting class. Day is the fourth player to sign her National Letter of Intent to play soccer at Loyola. She joins Amanda Picirrilli, Christy Mazzola and Sarra Moller as the newcomers to the Greyhounds in 2005.

Day, a 5-7 midfielder, played four years of varsity soccer at Boulder High School as well as on the 87 Colorado ODP team. She has earned regional and league recognition for her play. Throughout her career, her team has named her the Rookie of the Year, Best Offensive Player and most Valuable Player.

"We are very excited with Lea as our latest addition to the freshman class of 2005," Mallia said. "She has the ability to make an impact in our midfield early on in her career. Lea is great on the ball and beating players on the dribble in the midfield which will make her an asset in our attack."

The Greyhounds open the 2005 season on August 26 as they host East Carolina.
