BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland head women's soccer coach Naomi Meiburger announced the addition of 10 student-athletes that will make up the Class of 2019.
Kaisa Aalto (Helsinki, Finland/Helsingin Suomalainen Yhteiskoulu), Lexy Andrews (Fulton, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel), Julianna Cabrera (Garnerville, N.Y./North Rockland), Cassidy Griffith (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington), Krista Hinchman (Bryn Mawr, Pa./The Baldwin School), Sara McGeough (Sligo, Ireland/Sligo Grammar School), Sumer Rahe (Orange, Calif./El Modena), Kate Reese (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill), Mia Sardella (Cranston, R.I./La Salle Academy), and Jourdan Ziff (Temecula, Calif./Temecula Valley) will join the women's soccer team this upcoming season.
"I am really excited about the incoming class for next season," Meiburger said. "They add some much needed depth to our squad at all major positions."
"With this group we were able to gather some great regional and local talent as well as, a couple West Coast players. The addition of two players with international experience will open an exciting new chapter in our program. I am looking forward to working with this group and integrating them into a strong core of returning players. I know these players are looking forward to starting their collegiate careers in the classroom and on the field for us at Loyola."
Andrews helped PSC Baltimore 97 to five-straight Maryland State Championship titles from 2009-14. The team participated in the National League for three years and is currently ranked 11th in the nation by GotSoccer.com. Andrews and Our Lady of Good Counsel were three-time Washington Catholic Athletic Conference champions and ranked among the top-25 in the nation in 2012.
Cabrera guided North Rockland High School to four-straight state championship appearances, winning titles at the league, sectional and regional levels. In her senior campaign, Cabrera was named first team all-state and garnered state final player of the game accolades. In 2014, the Garnerville, New York native was invited to the ECNL Player Development Program, as a member of World Class FC.
Griffith, a defender for the PDA South Force NPL team, guided her squad to the national championship title, holding opponents scoreless throughout the series. This past year, Griffith was named to the Region 1 ODP Pool and will be traveling to Italy and France in the spring. The multi-sport athlete in basketball and track guided Northern Burlington County Regional High School to the state tournament all four years, earning all-state honors her senior year. The New Jersey Girls Soccer Coaches Association named Griffith a top-20 player in the 2014 central region.
Hinchman will graduate as the all-time points leader at the Baldwin School, where she started every game since her freshman season. The midfielder currently plays for the FC Europa Storm, which is nationally ranked as one of the top-20 club teams by Top Drawer Soccer. With the No. 1 ranking in the state of Pennsylvania, FC Europa Storm won the 2014 Eastern Pennsylvania State Cup Championships, as well as, the Disney Soccer Showcase.
McGeough played for the Irish Women's International U16, U17 and U19 teams, where she scored goals in matches against Georgia and Northern Ireland. The international forward played club soccer for Castle Bar Celtic, which ranked fourth in the women's national league. McGeough guided the Sligo Grammar School to the 2015 regional soccer finals.
In 2012, Rahe finished second in the ECNL National Championships with the San Diego Surf ECNL Academy. The following year, Rahe was invited to the 2013 US Youth National Team camp as a goalkeeper. The Orange, California native was a four-year starter at El Modena High School and was named to the All-Century League Second Team her junior year.
Reese led Winston Churchill High School in goals and assists last season, where she compiled 40 career assists. In 2014, Reese was named second-team all-state and guided her team to a first-place ranking in the Washington Post. An ODP player in 2012, Reese was invited to the national camp at IMG Academies. The forward plays club soccer for BSC-United ECNL, where she leads in the team in goals this season.
In 2014, Sardella earned first-team all-state honors after captaining La Salle Academy to its fourth state tournament appearance in as many years. In her freshman and junior seasons, the Rams were state champions. This past year, Sardella scored 10 goals and recorded seven assists. She also plays for the Boston Breakers Academy, an ECNL member club.
Ziff and her club team, the TVSA Hawks, amassed a 17-game unbeaten streak in 2014. The forward helped Temecula Valley High School to three CIF appearances.
