BALTIMORE - The Loyola University Maryland women's soccer team has added six student-athletes in their 2012 recruiting class, Head Coach Katherine Vettori announced Monday.
Joining the program will be Rosy Hayes (Northport, N.Y./Northport), Brooke Kerrigan (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip), Charlotte Miller (Scarsdale, N.Y./Scarsdale), Jade Petrucci (Fallston, Md./Notre Dame Prep), Riley Piechnick (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) and Kailey Rote (Geneva, Ill./Geneva).
"We are very excited to have six quality student-athletes joining the women's soccer program," said Vettori. "This class brings great technical ability and tactical knowledge of the game to the Greyhounds, and will be valuable members of the Loyola community both on and off the field."
Hayes was a four-year starter at Northport High School and was a National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-Region selection as a senior in 2011. As a senior captain in 2011,Hayes was selected to the Class AA All-State First-Team, All-Long Island team and All-County team. A three-time all-county selection, she scored 17 goals and had four assists, helping Northport High win the league title and advance to the country finals. The Northport, N.Y., native was a two-time league Player of the Year and combined for 29 goals and 10 assists her junior and senior seasons.
Hayes played her club soccer for the Albertson Fury, where she was a three-time state champion and two-time regional semifinalist. The club is currently No. 1 in the nation. She also played on the New York ODP team from 2004-08 and is a member of the Language Honor Society.
A four-time All-League selection, Charlotte Miller scored 76 goals and had 28 assists in her career at Scarsdale High School. Miller also was a two-time conference player of the year and a three-time All-Section honoree while being name to the New York All-State team in 2011.
Miller was a teammate of Hayes with the Fury, where they won three state cups and reached the regional semi-finals in 2009 and 2011. She is originally from Texas, where she played for the Solar prior to moving to New York.
Piechnick was a four-year varsity letterwinner at Canon McMillan High School where she led the Big Macs to four conference playoff appearances and two state tournament appearances. A two-time captain, Piechnick led the team in assists her junior and senior seasons and is second all-time in assists in school history with 38. She also was a two-time All-Conference selection.
Piechnick played her club soccer with the Beadling United, helping the squad win five Pennsylvania West State titles. The Canonsburg, Pa., native played three years on the Pennsylvania State ODP team, reaching the regional title game in 2011. Off the field, Piechnick has a 4.0 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society.
A three-year starter at West Islip High School, Kerrigan earned All-County honors in 2010 and 2011. She led the Lions to the 2009 Long Island title, and helped the team to the New York State semi-finals. Kerrigan was captain and MVP as a senior in 2011.
At the club level, Kerrigan played for the HBC ISA Intense '94 for six years. She helped the team to several championships, including WAGS, CFC and NERP.
The lone Maryland native in the 2016 class, Petrucci comes to Loyola after starting for four years at Notre Dame Prep in Towson, Md. Petrucci was an IAAM First-Team All-Star in 2010 and 2011, while earning Baltimore Sun All-Metro Second Team honors in 2011. She was one of the Baltimore Sun's Top Players to Watch while being a senior captain in 2011.
The Fallston, Md., native was captain of the Baltimore Bays club team, and has played with the team since 2000. Petrucci led the Bays to the state title and regional semi-final in 2007. She was a member of the Maryland ODP team from 2005-08 and was the President of the Notre Dame Prep Athletic Association.
Rote makes the longest travel to Baltimore, coming to the Evergreen Campus from Geneva, Ill. A four-year letterwinner and three year varsity starter, Rote helped Geneva High School win the 2011 Upstate Eight Conference title. She was an Upstate Eighth All-Conference Second Team selection in 2011 along with a Daily Herald All-Area Special Mention, and a Kane County Chronicle Honorable Mention. The team won the Regional title in both 2009 and 2010.
Rote was a four-year captain for the Strikers Fox Valley club team. She helped the squad to the 2010 State Cup Semi-Finals while helping them win the 2010 College Prospects title. Off the field, Rote is a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council while maintaining a 3.94 GPA.
