Women's Soccer Announces Spring and Fall '05 Schedules

Baltimore, Md. - Head women's soccer coach Joe Mallia released the Greyhounds schedules for this coming spring and the fall season. The Greyhounds enter the spring season after an exciting 16-4 season, the schools best ever. Loyola also won its fifth consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title and appeared in its fourth NCAA College Cup. Mallia's squad will pick-up where they left off in terms of their competition with strong spring and fall opponents.

The Greyhounds spring schedule includes six games from March 19-April 19 with the last two of those contests at home. Loyola hosts its alumni game on the Evergreen Campus on April 16th and a contest with the University of Delaware on April 19th at 6:00 p.m. They will also participate in a tournament at the Germantown SoccerPlex that funds breast cancer research on April 2nd. This tournament always brings in some of the top teams in the nation. Past Participants have been Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland and Tennessee.

In the fall, the Greyhounds start the season on the road as they travel to Harrisonburg, Va. to take part in James Madison's Tournament. They will face East Carolina on August 26th and the host on the 28th. They will then travel to Penn State on September 1st. The Nittany Lions were the No. 2 seed in last season's NCAA College Cup. Loyola will host its first home game of the 2005 season vs. Georgetown on September 5th before returning to the road to visit Florida (September 9th) and Central Florida (September 11th). Local-rival UMBC will visit Loyola in September 16th and travel to Rutgers on September 20th for an away game.

The Greyhounds will start their MAAC schedule after they face the Scarlet Knights but will still host non-conference opponent Penn on September 28th. MAAC opponents include Canisius, Fairfield, Iona, Manhattan, Marist, Niagara, Rider, Saint Peter's and Siena. All 10 MAAC teams will also participate in the championships in 2005 which will take place at the Disney Sports Complex in Orlando, Fla.
