BALTIMORE - Loyola College senior forward Theresa Ferraina was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Scholar All-East Region Third Team for her excellent performance on the field and in the classroom.
Ferraina, who carries a 4.0 grade point average and is a finance major, has earned several academic and athletic awards following the 2008 season.
On the field, she was named to the All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference First Team after leading the Greyhounds in goals (9), assists (8) and total points (26). Her assists total tied Loyola's school record in the category, and her 26 total points rank fifth all-time at the College in a single season.
Following the season, Ferraina was named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team and the MAAC All-Academic Team.
She also helped the Greyhounds earn a NSCAA Team Academic Award.
Ferraina, a native of Long Branch, N.J., has scored 48 total points with 18 goals and 12 assists in her career at Loyola. She is tied for eighth all-time in goal scored and is ninth in Loyola history in total points.
She did not play soccer her freshman year at Loyola and is expected to return in 2009 as a graduate student for her fourth and final season of athletic eligibility.
