Women's Soccer Closes the Regular Season with a 3-0 Win Over Saint Peter's

Jersey City, N.J. - The Loyola College women's soccer team finished the regular season with a 3-0 victory over Saint Peter's Sunday in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action. The Greyhounds improved to 10-6-2 overall and 8-1-0 in MAAC play while the Peahens fell to 2-15-2 on the season and 0-8-1 in the league.

Loyola got on the board early when Lea Day's corner kick in the 26th minute reached Amanda Meehan in the box. Meehan found the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.

Less than five minutes later, senior Carolyn Kennington added to the Greyhound lead with her unassisted goal.

In the second half, senior Courtney Arikian finished scoring off a pass from Day for the 3-0 final in the 51st minute.

The `Hounds held a 29-7 advantage in shots, 16-2 lead in shots on goal, and a 9-2 lead in corner kicks.

Sophomore Amanda Piccirilli tallied two saves while Saint Peter's keeper Jillian Fueshko stopped 13 Loyola shots.

The Greyhounds enter the conference tournament as the No. 1 seed. The tournament will be held in Fairfield, Conn.
