Baltimore, Md. - A header by Nichole Schiro four minutes into overtime gave the Loyola Greyhounds a hard-fought, 1-0, victory over Saint Peter's Friday afternoon at the Greyhounds' Diane Geppi-Aikens Field. Loyola improves to 12-4-2 and 8-0 in the conference and extends its winning streak to eight straight.
Sophomore Maggie Ebner was credited with the assist on the golden goal as she served a high ball into the box from the right wing. Schiro was in perfect position on the far post as she headed the ball just over the goal line as it was contested by Peahens' goalkeeper Caitlin Hoffer.
Hoffer kept the Peahens in the game as she played brilliantly stopping 12 shots as the Greyhounds recorded a 31-1 shot advantage.
Brittany Henderson was not forced to make a save in the match as Loyola controlled the ball for much of the game.
The Greyhounds host Manhattan for Senior day on Sunday, October 25 at Diane Geppi-Aikens Field in a 1:00 pm start. The matchup against the Jaspers will be the final home game for seniors: Heather Cooke, Theresa Ferraina, Christina Gomez, Brittany Henderson, Colleen Kinealy, Amanda Meehan, Rachel Shuck and Andrea Toro.
