Baltimore, Md. - Four different members of the Loyola College women's soccer team scored in a 4-0 win over Iona Sunday in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action on Diane Geppi-Aikens Field. The Greyhounds, who have not lost a regular season conference game in 45 outings, improve to 9-5-2 overall and 7-0-0 in MAAC play. The Gaels fall to 3-9-4 on the season and 1-3-2 in conference action.
Loyola got on the board early when senior Katelyn Woods took a short cross from classmate Courtney Arikian and beat the keeper with a shot into the left corner of the goal. Woods' goal gave the Greyhounds a 1-0 lead after less than three minutes of play.
The score remained 1-0 until midway through the second half when freshman Rachel Shuck passed the ball from the top of the box to classmate Heather Cooke. Cooke drew the keeper out and found the back of the net for the 2-0 Loyola lead in the 77th minute.
Just three minutes later the `Hounds padded their lead when sophomore Theresa Ferraina crossed the ball to the left side of the field to Shuck. Shuck's shot beat the keeper to the right for the 3-0 lead.
The Greyhounds held a 22-5 advantage in shots, a 12-3 lead in shots on goal and a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Loyola keeper Amanda Piccirilli stopped three shots while Iona's Suzanne Baldissard recorded eight saves.
Loyola finishes the regular season on the road, facing Manhattan on October 27 and Saint Peter's on October 29.
