POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Jaclynn Sabia scored for Marist in the 59th minute, and the Red Foxes held on for a 1-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory over visiting Loyola University Maryland on Sunday afternoon.

Samantha Panzer slipped a pass to Sabia who scored the eventual game-winner inside the near post.

"We have to continue to improve and focus on our next game," Head Coach Katherine Vettori said. "Brittany Yancey and Tessa McClenahan both played well for us today, and Kelly Thomas stepped up."

Loyola's best chances came near the end of the first half. In the 39th and 40th minutes, Kelly Farrell and Katelyn McFadden each had shots from nearly point-blank range, but Marist goalkeeper Jamie Balzarini made saves on both.

Balzarini finished with five saves, with Didi Haracic made three for Loyola.

Lina Staropoli had a shot in the 76th minute saved by Balzarini, earning Loyola one of two consecutive corner kicks. The Greyhounds, however, could not connect on either set piece.

Loyola (5-8-2 overall, 1-3-0 MAAC) is back home for its final two regular-season matches at Ridley Athletic Complex, beginning on Friday night when it hosts Family Fun Day against Fairfield. The game is set for 7 p.m.
