Women's Soccer Uses Second Half Goal to Defeat Fairfield, 1-0

Fairfield, Conn. - Junior Carolyn Kennington scored a goal in the 65th minute of play to give Loyola a 1-0 victory over Fairfield Sunday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women's soccer action. The Greyhounds improve to 11-4 overall and 6-0 in conference action while the Stags fall to 5-5 overall and 3-2 in MAAC play.

The Greyhounds, despite holding 8-1 advantage in shots in the first half, where unable to come up with a goal until 20 minutes into the second half when leading scorer Ali Andrzejewski controlled a loose ball 35 yards out on the right side. She lofted a high pass into the box which Carolyn Kennington managed to head high in the air over Maron's outstretched arms for a 1-0 lead.

Loyola held a 14-2 overall advantage in shots and a 6-2 mark in corner kicks.

Freshman keeper Amanda Piccirilli stopped one of Fairfield's two shots while Brett Maron recorded three saves for the Stags.

The Greyhounds return home for the remainder of the regular season starting on Friday, October 14 when they host Saint Peter's at 3:00 p.m.
