Women's Soccer Tops Iona, 1-0

New Rochelle, N.Y. - Freshman Sarra Moller scored the game's only goal as the Greyhounds knocked off Iona, 1-0 Friday afternoon. The game matched the last two teams undefeated in MAAC play. Loyola improves to 10-4 overall and 5-0 in the conference while Iona falls to 7-5 overall and 3-1 in the league.

Loyola controlled the ball for most of the first half, but where unable to come up with a goal until the 41st minute when Courtney Arikian's header was saved by a diving Jessica Martin, who deflected the ball to the right. Moller took the rebound and knocked into the unguarded net for a 1-0 lead.

The early second half mirrored the first, as the Greyhounds kept the ball away from Iona.

Martin ended the day with six saves for Iona, while Amanda Piccirilli stopped one shot for the Greyhounds. Loyola held a 21-7 advantage in shots.

The Greyhounds travel to Fairfield Sunday October 9 for a 1:00 game.
