BALTIMORE, MD - Loyola outshot Marist 34-3 but failed to register a goal in a 0-0 tie in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference contest Sunday afternoon at Curley Field. The Greyhounds now stand at 3-6-1 and 1-0-1 in the conference while the Red Foxes' are 1-8-1 and 0-1-1 in the MAAC.
The Greyhounds created several quality chances at goals in all four periods of play. At the end of regulation, Ashley Kramer had an opportunity to score and drew out Marist's keeper, Meredith Fabian but Fabian fell on the ball to stop Kramer's chances.
Jeannetta McGettigan had two chances near the end of the first overtime period with a shot wide at 96:54 and one on goal, saved by Fabian, at 99:53. Loyola was given a corner in the final second but couldn't get the ball into play fast enough.
Naomi Daniels tallied the last attempt in the final 13 seconds of play but Fabian recorded the save.
"I don't know that we could have played any better or tried any harder then we did today," head coach Joe Mallia said. "But if we keep putting in this kind of effort and play, we're going to get some breaks and stick some balls away. I think things will fall our way at the right time."
Loyola's leading scorer, freshman Carolyn Kennington tallied 14 shots in Sunday's contest with five on goal.
Fabian was credited with 11 saves while junior Erica Niemann stopped two of Marist's three scoring attempts.
Loyola returns to action on Friday, October 10th when they travel to Fairfield.
