Loundonville, N.Y. - Carolyn Kennington notched her fifth collegiate goal in the 74th minute Sunday afternoon to give the Greyhounds a 1-0 victory over the Siena women's soccer. Loyola improved to 6-3 overall with the win and are undefeated in conference play at 2-0. The Saints fall to 4-7 and 1-1.
Loyola held a huge advantage in shots in the first half at 9-0 but was unable to capitalize on any of its chances.
The Greyhounds continued to control the second half, out-shooting the Saints 5-3 before finally getting on the board when Kennington netted her game-winner on a pass from Caitlin McCusker that lofted over Saints goalie Noel Cox has she came out the box.
Cox posted five saves while Loyola keeper Kate Gilfillan earned the victory without having to make a save.
Loyola finished the game with a 14-3 advantage in shots and 5-2 in corner kicks.
The Greyhounds continue their conference schedule next week at home, hosting Iona (Friday, Oct. 8) and Fairfield (Sun. Oct. 10).
