Princeton, N.J. - The Loyola College women's soccer team fell to Princeton 2-1 Wednesday night at Lourie-Love Field. The Greyhounds fall to 1-5-2 on the season while the Tigers improve to 4-3-1.
The first half of Wednesday's games was a defensive battle ending in a 0-0 tie after 45 minutes of play.
The second half was a different story. In the 64th minute, Princeton's Aarti Jain got the Tigers on the board with a strong kick from 18 yards out. Jain's goal was assisted by Vic Anagnostopoulos for the 1-0 lead. Just over six minutes later, the Tigers Meghan Farrell added to the lead when she rebounded Anagnostopoulos' shot and tapped it into the back of the net for the 2-0 score.
Loyola freshman Colleen Kinealy responded in the 77th minute to get the Greyhounds on the board. Classmate Christina Gomez passed the ball ahead to Kinealy who was able to get the ball past Princeton goalie Maren Dale in a scramble in front of the goal for the 2-1 score.
Loyola keeper Brittany Henderson stopped six Princeton shots while Dale recorded two saves.
The Greyhounds return to action on Saturday when they open their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference schedule at Rider.
