Women's Soccer Defeats UMBC, 2-0

Baltimore, Md. - Senior Ali Andrzejewski scored two goals to give Loyola a 2-0 win over UMBC in women's soccer action Friday at Alumnae Field. The Greyhounds improve to 4-3-0 on the season while the Retrievers fall to 3-4-0.

The Greyhounds took four shots early in the game, all with scoring potential before Ali Anrzejewski's shot from the left side of the field sailed into the right corner of the goal in the 14th minute. Loyola took seven more shots in the first half for a total of 12 to UMBC's total of five.

Andrzejewski's second goal came on the first shot of the half in the 65th minute of play. Junior Carolyn Kennington passed the ball of to Andrzejewski who lofted it up over UMBC's goalie Catie Buikowski's head for the 2-0 score.

Loyola ended the contest with a 28-5 advantage in shots, including several more in the second half that had scoring potential.

Freshman Amanda Piccirilli recorded four saves on the day while Buikowski stopped 10 shots.

Andrzejewski's two goals gave her a total of 23 for her career and a total of 53 points. She moved into second place all-time in goals and a tie for third in points. Kennington's assist gave her a total of 16 all-time and 58 total points to rank her fourth all-time in assists and goals (21) and third in points.

Loyola is back in action on Tuesday, September 20 at Rutgers at 7:00.
