Washington, D.C. - Goalkeeper Brittany Henderson held Georgetown scoreless for 110 minutes as the Greyhounds and Hoyas battled to 0-0 tie at North Kehoe Field in Washington, D.C. on Friday afternoon.
Loyola, which out-shot Georgetown by a 16-8 margin, had the better of the chances in the spirited goalless match. Senior Carolyn Kennington posted four shots-on-goal and six total shots for the match, while Caitlin McCusker added three shots-on-goal and four total attempts.
The Greyhound defense limited Georgetown's chances in the second half, allowing only one shot in the second half and one shot in each of the overtime periods. Henderson finished the game with three saves while Hoya keeper Jade Higgins had 10, including five in overtime.
The tie gives Loyola its first point of the 2006 season. The Greyhounds opened the year with three matches in Arizona, playing Arizona State, St. Louis and Florida State last week. Georgetown, meanwhile, has three ties this season and has an overall record of 1-1-3.
The Greyhounds return to action with their fifth straight road game on Tuesday, September 12 when they travel to College Park and take on Maryland. That game is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
