LSU Scores Two Goals in the Final Five Minutes to Defeat Women's Soccer, 2-0

Final Stats BATON ROUGE, LA - Louisiana State University scored two goals in the final five minutes of play to defeat Loyola 2-0 in the closing round of the Tiger Classic Sunday. The Greyhounds fall to 1-3 on the season while the Tigers imporve to 5-0.

The two teams held each other scoreless for the first 85 minutes of play before LSU's Stacey Bishop scored on a free kick at 85:25. The Tigers quickly scored again at 87:28 to diminish the Greyhounds hopes of a tie on an unassisted goal by Artie Brown.

Loyola seemed to control the tempo in the first period, outshooting LSU 8-3, but were unable to get any of their eight shots in the goal. In the second, it ws the reverse with the Tigers takig nine shots to the Greyhounds two.

Loyola keeper Erica Niemann stopped three shots while LSU's Robyn DesOrmeaux held off five of the Greyhounds goal attempts.

Freshman Carolyn Kennington and Courtney Arikian put the offensive pressure on DesOrmeaux with four shots each. Three of Kennington's shots were on goal.

The Greyhounds return to action on Saturday, Sept. 13 when they visit American University.
