No. 8 Penn State Tops Women's Soccer, 5-0

State College, Pa. - Penn State's women's soccer team moved to 3-0 on the season when they defeated visiting Loyola 5-0 Thursday night at Jeffrey Field. The Greyhounds fall to 1-2 on the season with the loss.

PSU's Ali Krieger started the Lions' offense early, making space for herself and beating her defender with a hard strike from the right side of the box into the left side of the net. The goal, which came at the 10:57 mark, was Krieger's second of the year. Krieger also scored her second goal of the day when Sheree Gray took the ball deep to the right side of the box and unleashed a cross to the middle where Krieger was on the move in the 29th minute to put the Lions up 2-0.

Penn State leading scorer Tiffany Weimer added the first tally of the second half at 64:52 while Aubrey Aden-Buie.) netted her first goal of the 2005 season, scoring on a Holly Lincoln assist in the 75th minute. Allie Daus was credited with Penn State's final goal of the day when she helped redirect the ball into the net for the 5-0 Lion victory.

The Greyhounds open their home season on Monday, September 5 at 1:00 by hosting Georgetown.
