Harrisonburg, Va. - Senior Ali Andrzejewski scored three goals to lead Loyola women's soccer to a 4-2 win over East Carolina at the James Madison/Comfort Inn Tournament Friday. The victory is also the first for head coach John Byford.
Andrzejewski got the `Hounds on the board early with a shot from two-yards out at 4:48 into the game for a 1-0 lead. Sophomore Tyhira Glenn assisted on the goal. Over 30 minutes later Andrzejewski, off a pass from junior Carolyn Kennington, gave Loyola a 2-0 lead with a shot from 15 yards out into the far left corner of the goal. East Carolina scored their first goal just five minutes before the end of the first half on an unassisted marker by Ashley Stopa for a 2-1 Loyola lead.
The Pirates evened the score at two with a goal by Meghan McCallion at 64:13 with assists credited to Stopa and Kate Lowe. Late in the second, Glenn returned the lead to the Greyhounds with her goal, assisted by freshman Lea Day at 82:08. Andrzejewski added the insurance goal for the hat trick at 85:02, assisted by Glenn.
Loyola outshot East Carolina 14-7 while senior keeper Kate Gilfillan made four saves in goal. ECU's Amber Campbell stopped three Greyhound attempts.
The Greyhounds wrap up the tournament by facing the host on Sunday at 1:30.
