BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland head women's lacrosse coach Jen Adams has announced the squad's 2016 spring schedule, a slate that once again features one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the nation.
The Greyhounds, opening their season earlier than ever, will face five teams in their first six games that advanced to the 2015 NCAA Tournament, including traveling to take on the reigning champions from the BIG EAST, Big Ten and Atlantic Coast Conference.
Loyola, back-to-back winners of the Patriot League, will also host eight games at the Ridley Athletic Complex this spring, with five of those match-ups being Patriot League contests.

The Greyhounds will begin their 44th season of play on Saturday, Feb. 6 against the BIG EAST Champions, University of Florida, in Gainesville, Florida, before traveling north to face Syracuse University, the ACC Champions, on Sunday, Feb. 14. Loyola's next two games will pit the Greyhounds against a pair of local rivals, as the squad travels down Charles Street on Wednesday, Feb. 24, to face Johns Hopkins University in an ESPN3 broadcasted contest, before returning to campus to host Towson University in the home opener on Sunday, Feb. 28.
A game at Penn State University, winners of the inaugural Big Ten Championship, will take place on Saturday, March 5, before Loyola returns home to begin a three-game homestand. The Greyhounds will first host the University of Virginia, on Wednesday, March 9, before beginning Patriot League play against a pair of conference foes: American University on Tuesday, March 15, and the United States Naval Academy on Saturday, March 19.
Loyola will head back out on the road for back-to-back games, at Georgetown University on Tuesday, March 22 and at Boston University on Saturday, March 26, before returning home to host Princeton University in the non-conference finale on Wednesday, March 30.
April will begin with a trip to Colgate University on Saturday, April 2, followed by College of Holy Cross and Lehigh University visiting Ridley Athletic Complex the following two weekends, on Saturday, April 9 and Saturday, April 16, respectively.
The Greyhounds will then embark on a two-game road swing, heading to Bucknell University on Wednesday, April 20 and Lafayette University on Saturday, April 23.
The regular-season finale is scheduled for Saturday, April 23, when Loyola hosts Army West Point, a first-year program, on Senior Day. The 2016 Patriot League Championship will be a six-team tournament with the top-two seeds receiving byes to the semifinals. The remaining higher seeds will host quarterfinal matches on Tuesday, May 3, with the tournament's top seed and regular season champion hosting the semifinals and finals on Friday, May 6, and Sunday, May 8, respectively.
The first and second round games for the 26-team NCAA Championships will be played at campus sites on Friday, May 13 and Sunday, May 15, respectively. The quarterfinals will take place the following weekend, with the semifinals and finals set for Friday, May 27 and Sunday, May 29, respectively, at PPL Park in Philadelphia.
