Women's Lacrosse Hosts 5-Team Tournament on Saturday

BALTIMORE - Loyola College opens its fall slate of intercollegiate women's lacrosse competition on Saturday, October 6, when it hosts four other teams in the Loyola Fall Tournament on Diane Geppi-Aikens Field.

Cornell, George Mason, Louisville and Vanderbilt come to Baltimore for the event.

Vanderbilt and Louisville get the tournament underway at 8 a.m., while Loyola takes the field at 9 a.m. versus Louisville, 12 p.m. against Cornell, and 2 p.m. versus George Mason.

Cornell finished the 2007 season with a 5-10 record. The Big Red edged Loyola, 13-10, in the teams' final game of the season.

George Mason lost seven of its last eight games during the 2007 season and finished with a 6-10 record.

Louisville will play its first varsity season in 2008 under the direction of Head Coach Kellie Young. The Cardinals will compete against teams in the BIG EAST this year, but they will not count in the conference standings until 2009.

Vanderbilt is coming off an 11-6 season in which it lost in the NCAA Championships First Round to Syracuse.
