Women's Lacrosse Announces 2007 Schedule

Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola College women's lacrosse team announced its 2007 schedule Monday. The team will host eight home games this season including two double-headers with the men's team.

The Greyhounds will wrap-up the pre-season schedule on Saturday, February 10 with the Charles Street Challenge. Play will start at 9:00 a.m. on Diane Geppi-Aikens Field. In addition to Loyola, Johns Hopkins, the university of New Hampshire, Towson and William & Mary will participate.

Loyola opens its regular season schedule with thee straight home games starting with a double-header with the men's team. On Saturday, February 24, the men will host Towson at 1:00 with the women versus Hofstra following at 4:00. The women also host UMBC on Tuesday, February 27 at 3:30 and North Carolina on Friday, March 2 at 4:00 to open the home schedule.

The `Hounds hit the road for the first two away games of the season at Delaware (March 7) and Rutgers (March 11). For the next home game, the Boston University Terriers visit Diane Geppi-Aikens Field on Wednesday, March 14 at 4:00. After road games at Connecticut (March 17) and Princeton (March 21), Notre Dame will visit Baltimore on Sunday, March 25 for a 1:00 game. The Greyhounds travel just up the road on Wednesday, March 28 for a game vs. the Towson Tigers under the lights at Johny Unitas Stadium at 7:00.

On Saturday, March 31, Loyola lacrosse hosts its second double header with the men taking on Syracuse at 1:00 and the women hosting Penn State at 3:30. Loyola travels to James Madison (April 3) before hosting Georgetown on Saturday, April 7 at 1:00. After hosting the Hoyas, Loyola travels to Maryland (April 13) for a night game and Syracuse (April 21).

For the weekend of April 27-29, the Greyhounds will travel to the first ever BIG EAST Championship. The tournament is a four-team format with play beginning on Friday, April 27. In the first round, the top seeded team will face the No. 4 team and the No. 2 team will play the No. 3 team. In the second day of play on Sunday, April 29, the winners from Friday's games will play in the championship.

Following the BIG EAST Tournament, Loyola hosts its final regular season home game versus Cornell on Saturday, May 5 at 1:00.
