BALTIMORE - Loyola College women's lacrosse players Kate Filippelli (Devon, Pa./Archbishop Carroll High School) and Kristen Stone (Buffalo, N.Y./Nichols School) were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll for their excellence on the field and in the classroom.

"We are proud of Kate and Kristen's achievements in the classroom," said Head Coach Kerri O'Day. "Not only are they great performers on the field, they are strong students and set a great example for the rest of our team."

The duo, who both completed their junior seasons in 2007, were two of 157 NCAA Division I student-athletes from 57 schools who were honored. In all, the IWLCA honored 410 student-athletes from all three NCAA divisions.

Filippelli, an elementary education major, finished the 2007 season fourth on the Greyhounds in scoring with 15 goals and four assists for a total of 19 points. She played in and started 13 games, picking up 19 ground balls and controlling 17 draws. FIlippelli converted four-of-five eight-meter shot attempts.

Stone, a mathematics and secondary education major, started all 16 games for the Greyhounds last season. She led the team in ground balls (37) and caused turnovers (24), setting career-highs in both categories in the process.

The team co-captain also earned Inside Lacrosse All-America Third Team honors after the season, was named to the IWLCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region First Team and the All-BIG EAST First Team.
