Loyola Aussies Play Well in World Cup

Annapolis, Md. - Loyola College women's lacrosse assistant coach Stacey Morlang and junior midfielder Kate McHarg are both playing well for the Australian World Cup team in the early pool play. The Australian's are currently 3-0-1 with wins over Canada, England and Wales as well as a 7-7 tie with the United States.

Morlang, who is second in all-time scoring in Loyola history, has scored in every game during pool play including a four goal and one assist performance Monday to lead her team to an 18-3 win over Wales. She scored twice versus Canada, recorded a goal and an assist against England and tallied a goal in the tie with the U.S. Sunday.

McHarg, who led the Greyhounds in scoring this past season, added three goals in the victory over Wales. She also scored three goals and added an assist in the 15-4 win over England Saturday. McHarg also recorded an assist against Canada and a goal in the tie game with the U.S.

The playoff portion of the 10-team event begins Tuesday as the venue shifts to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. For a schedule of playoff portion of the tournament, click here.
