Former Women's Lacrosse Player Honored by <i>The Baltimore Sun</i>

Baltimore, Md. - Former Loyola College women's lacrosse and soccer standout, Betsy Given Economou was highlighted in The Baltimore Sun earlier this week in their list of 40 Years of Sun Athletics Standouts. Economou was a four year standout on the lacrosse field and added two season on the soccer team from 1991-1995.

On the lacrosse field, Economu helped lead Loyola to a 1994 appearance in the NCAA Division I semifinals. She led the team in goals and overall scoring that year and was an All-America selection for her efforts. Ecomomou joined the Loyola soccer team in its first season in 1992. In two seasons she set the schools all-time goal, assist and point records. Today, she remains among the programs leaders in each category ranking third in total points, third in goals and fourth in assists.
