Baltimore, Md. - The second-annual Diane Geppi-Aikens Memorial Race will take place on Saturday, Sept. 25 at Loyola College. The race, a 5K run or 1-mile walk, will start and end at Diane Geppi-Aikens Field, home to the intercollegiate lacrosse and soccer teams at Evergreen.
The first race, held last September, was a huge success as a large crowd came out to support the 375 runners who completed the course through Baltimore's Guilford neighborhood. Over $15,000.00 was raised in memory of Loyola's beloved lacrosse coach who passed away with an inoperable brain tumor in June of 2003.
"Last year was a memorable experience for all those involved," says Loyola Athletic Director Joe Boylan. "The runner, walkers, organizers and supporters made the event very special. We're looking forward to another great race this year."
The Diane Geppi-Aikens Memorial Race is part of the Charm City Run program. More details on the race will be available at a later date so check back at www.LoyolaGreyhounds.com and www.CharmCityRun.com for more information.
