BALTIMORE - One day before the Loyola University Maryland women's lacrosse team takes the field in the NCAA Championships First Round, its junior goalkeeper, Kerry Stoothoff, was named The Baltimore Sun Player of the Week for her efforts in the BIG EAST Championships.
Stoothoff made 10 saves in the Championship Game against Notre Dame including six in the second half. She helped hold the Fighting Irish to just 2-of-7 on free-position shots.
The Blue Point, N.Y., native finished with 17 saves in the tournament and was also named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.
Stoothoff earned All-BIG EAST Second Team honors and is among the top goalkeepers in NCAA Division I in goals against average (8.78) and save percentage (.479) this season.
