Wolf Collects Second Corvias ECAC Defensive Player Of The Week Honor

DANBURY, Conn. - Loyola University Maryland women’s lacrosse senior goalkeeper Molly Wolf picked up her second Corvias Eastern College Athletic Conference Division I Defensive Player of the Week honor, as announced by the ECAC Tuesday.

Wolf, also the Corvias Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for a third time, anchored a defensive unit that picked up a pair of road wins last week, a 13-7 win at Bucknell on Wednesday and a 10-7 decision at Lafayette on Saturday.

At Bucknell, Wolf made nine saves and allowed only five goals in 52 minutes of action. In picking up the win, the Greyhounds locked up the top seed in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament and will host the semifinals and championship game at Ridley Athletic Complex on Friday, May 6 and Sunday, May 8, respectively.

On Saturday at Lafayette, Wolf had a career-best performance, recording a personal-best 15 saves to post her seventh double-digit save outing of the year and the 22nd of her career. She also picked up a season-high five ground balls to lead Loyola to its third-straight Patriot League regular season title.For the week, Wolf turned back 24 saves, posted a .667 save percentage and gave up just 6.39 goals per game.

This marks the ninth career weekly honor for Wolf, while it’s the fourth of her career from the ECAC.

The Greyhounds, winners of a League-best 24-straight conference games, will conclude the regular season on Saturday when they hosts Army West Point at 1 p.m. Prior to the start of the game, Loyola’s senior class – Shannon Aikens, Maddy Blakeman, Maddy Lesher and Molly Wolf – will be honored in a Senior Day ceremony.
