Women's Lacrosse Visits Towson

Baltimore, Md. - Tuesday night, the Greyhounds travel locally to meet the Towson Tigers at Johnny Unitas Stadium. Loyola is looking to improve on its 4-9 record while the Tigers, at 11-4 will be playing in their final game before the CAA Championships.

Loyola holds a 24-8 advantage over Towson in the series between the two teams. The Greyhounds have topped the Tigers in every contest the two teams have played since 1982, posting 23 straight victories.

Shannon Witzel currently leads the Tigers in goals with 53 on the season. Teammate Becky Trumbo leads in points with 39 goals and a team-high 27 assists. Also posting double-figures in goals are Amy Middleton (27), Erin Cayea (21) and Caitlin Marshall (11).

Trumbo leads the team on the draw with 49 while Witzel leads in groundballs with 43. Lauren Cassel posts the most caused turnovers with 20.

Mandy Corry has played in all 15 games for the Tigers in goal posting a 7.79 goals-against average and .582 saves percentage.

Kate McHarg leads the Loyola team in scoring with 44 goals and two assists. Second in point scoring is senior Rachel Shuck with 15 goals scored and 29 assists to her credit this season. Rounding out the top five is Sydney Greene (29 goals), Maura Kenny (23 goals) and Kate Filippelli (15 goals).

Filippelli is the leader in groundballs and caused turnovers this season with 34 and 14 respectively. Laura Carper ties Filippelli in caused turnovers with 14. On the draw, McHarg and Liz Peregoy lead with 33.

Loyola's starting keeper, Kim Lawton ranked fifth in the nation this week in saves percentage. She currently posts a .559 percentage and a 10.46 goals against average in 407:19 minutes played. Cindy Nicolaus has played 372:41 minutes in goal with a 11.75 GAA and a .497 mark at saves percentage.
